Remains prove the exsistance of Human culture on the Sierra Blanca Mountain in Marbella during the Paleolithic and Neolithic ages. here, human remains and prehistoric relics have been dug up and have innocently revealed an important part of Marbella's history to us. Coming up to more recent times, we have learned that Marbella was discovered by the Romans in 206 b.c. and was named as 'Saluba '.

Marbella has successfully preserved its old architecture like the old town quarters with its white washed houses and shady town squares full of orange trees accompanied by the sweet smell of jazmin. While moving around we can find the main square 'Plaza de Los Naranjos ' together with the Town Hall built in 1504
Marbella would not be part of Andalucia if it did not have an Alcazaba or castle, The Wooden Castle ( 9th century), became the part of the defense system of the city as it had the walls around it. We realise that it was made with Roman material just by viewing the three Ionic columns. Museum's disply the facts of these historical races adding to the mile stones of Marbella history.

45 years ago Marbella was an agricultural town with a mining industry and some 10.000 inhabitants. Towards the beginning of the 19th Century, the first Industrial Estate in Spain was established, in El Angel and in La Concepcion, in order to take advantage of all the possibilities in the Sierra Blanca Mines, Marbella began to form part of the industrialization of Malaga, becoming the second most important Industrial Province on the Peninsula.
That was just the begginning na don the arrival of 90's this agriculturaltown began to be recognized as a "Universal City". Mayor Jesus Gil carried out actions at the last decade of the 20th Century to bring marbella in picture for fields like Infrastructures, Cultural Centers, sporting installations, Municipal Offices, Golf Courses, New Avenues, Parks, etc and then encouraging investors to the city have made Marbella a city desired by all and has brought us to be awarded with national and international prizes for the security, cleanliness and cordiality of the people.
